A Few Things President Obama Has Done

As his times comes to an end, we should remember the things that he has done.

After 8 years of being the United States President, Obama's term will come to an end this January. He has been an example of humanity, kindness, and respect. He has been an example of goodwill for our country. There is no telling what will happen once the new president becomes elected. For now, we can remember the great things that Obama has done for the United States, and many other countries. These are only a few examples.

1. Ended war in Iraq by pulling troops out.

2. Captured Osama bin Laden

He ordered special forces to raid Pakistan

3. Expanded Pell Grant spending

4. Increased support for veterans after their service

He did this by increasing the budget of the Department of Veterans Affairs. He also signed a new GI bill for veterans to be allotted more tuition money.

5. Cut payroll taxes and extended unemployment insurance

6. Created Recovery.gov

7. Signed Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act

This act set betters nutritional standards for students. It requires school to have only whole grain breads and it doubled the minimum amount of fruits and vegetables schools should have.

8. Made pay equality laws

These laws allow for women to have the right to sue a company for getting paid less than a man.

9. Invested in renewable energy and technology such as solar panels

This act was to stop firms from aiding in Iran's petroleum sector.

11. Repealed the discriminating law, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

This law had made it prohibited for gays to be open about their sexuality in the military.

12. Got banks back on their feet

13. Helped pollution by closing dirty power plants

14. Signed the Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility, and Disclosure Act

This act prohibits credit card companies from raising rates without a notification and grace period, and limits overdraft fees.

15.Signed the Children's Health Insurance Authorization Act

This allowed the Children's Health Insurance Policy to cover for an additional 4 million children, paid for by an increase on tobacco.

16. Boosted fuel efficiency standards

17. Reversed Bush policies that had led us into a recession

18. Signed the Hate Crimes Prevention Act

This made it a hate crime to discriminate anyone for their sexual orientation, gender, disability, religion, color, or origin.

19. Signed the Food Safety Modernization Act

This act increases food inspections, raises the amount of food recalls, and made reviews on importing food products more strict.
