It seems like a majority of people want children and that's okay but, for those of us who don't want children we are tired of hearing the same things over and over again. We have our reasons for not wanting children and no, we aren't selfish. It's what we decided so please, stop trying to push us to "want" kids.

1.) "You're young, I'm sure you'll change your mind."

Yes, I know I am young. No, I won't change my mind.

2.) "That's selfish"

Do you think I care what you think about my decision? I'm sorry you don't like what I decided but, you're going have to live with it.

3.) "I'm sure you don't hate children"

Yet, here we are. You keep thinking that.

4.) "But we want to be ______ (grandparents, aunts, etc.)"

Gosh, good thing you have two of my other siblings to look to for that.

5.) "Kids are the best thing in life, you'll understand if you have one."

Maybe for those who love kids and always wanted kids but, for those of us who don't want kids, probably not.

6.) "Why wouldn't you want children?"

I can't handle myself why would I want another one of me?

Also, I enjoy saving my money for things or people I actually like and kids are expensive. Oh and, I want to keep my body the way it is and not have it messed up by having a child.

7.) "Watch, I bet you'll have 5 kids."

I'd rather not be the Brady Bunch.

8.) "You can't just have cats and call them 'kids'."

Watch me.

9.) "What if your s/o wants kids?"

I'm sure I'll find someone who will understand. If they don't like it, too bad.

10.) "Those aren't good enough reasons to not want kids."

Well, they seem like great reasons to me.

I still don't get why it's so hard for people to understand my reasons for not wanting kids. When I imagined my future, kids were never in it. I imagine having a great career, husband, and having time to travel where I want and when I want without having kids restricting the places I go. So, you keep trying to push me to have kids or want kids but, in all reality, it's not going to happen.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
