As the common phrase goes, "it takes one to know one." This couldn't be more true when it comes to the inhabitants of Sacramento, CA. Besides being the state's capitol, not much is known about Sacramento to the outsiders. However, if you can relate to these things, you must be from Sac.
You've never pronounced the "T" in Sacramento. It's actually pronounced "Sac-ra-meno."
It really catches you off guard when when you catch someone throw in the hard "T."
And you've NEVER, ever called it "Sac-town."
You know the Kings aren't anywhere close to as good as they were in 2005, but you love them anyway.
You will forever be faithful to the Sacramento Kings and, no matter what, you will always despise the Lakers a little bit. Oh, and for the record, they still play in Arco Arena. We are all confused when they call it "Sleeptrain" or whatever else they are calling it nowadays.
You know normal ice cream just doesn't compare.
You love this stuff and couldn’t resist getting one at every Rivercats game.
There are about a million high schools in the Sacramento area but you probably know at least one person from each of them.
Sacramento is a pretty big place, but when it comes to all of the local high schools, it's weird how everyone still finds a way to know everyone.
You've gone on at least one (but probably more) school field trips to the zoo.
And each time impresses you less than the last time.
As a kid, your favorite part about going to Arden Fair Mall was getting to ride the carousel.
You've never missed the state fair.
You tell yourself that this will be the year that you don’t go, but you hear every commercial on the radio urging you to go for a month straight and you give in. Maybe next year.
Its no Union Square, but you still love going to the holiday ice skating rink on K Street.
You know where all of the good jumping spots on the Sacramento river are.
There are about three hidden tree swings on the Sacramento River and you best believe you’ve done them all.
You get mad when you hear people complain that "Nor-Cal isn't as hot as So-Cal."
This is not to say that So-Cal doesn’t get hot, but we deal with 100+ degree summers too. (And we do it without a beach).
You recognize this building
... and this one.
Most people who grow up in Sacramento can't wait to move as soon as they can. However, you never really realize how much you love a city until you're gone. Sacramento may not be the most fun, hustling and bustling city, but its natives will always appreciate its value.
