16 Things Only Tall Girls Understand

There are some things that only us tall girls can understand. Growing up was a constant challenge between feeling super awkward and embracing our height. Once we're older we learn to love how tall we are, but there are definitely some struggles along the way. If you're a tall girl, you'll definitely have experienced these things:

1. You automatically gravitate towards the back and center while taking a picture because that's where you're always moved anyway.

2. You either played basketball in high school, or you were asked if you did a billion times.

3. Rompers just don't work.

4. When someone asks you how tall you are, you reply with: "I'm the same height as (insert high supermodel name here)."

5. You and a couple of boys were the tallest kids in your grade until high school.

6. You love heels, and you're going to wear them no matter how tall they make you.

7. Middle school was a constant battle against slouching to make yourself look shorter.

8. You've probably hit your head at least once on a shower head.

9. You always have a reason to ride shotgun in a small car because you can't fit in the back seat.

10. The main reason you visited the principal in high school was for breaking dress code with a skirt or dress. (Even if it was the same one a shorter girl was wearing.)

11. Even if you don't work out, you can still manage to look athletic. (my personal fave benefit of being tall)

12. People tell you how tall you are ALL THE TIME.

13. You still haven't quite figured out how to hug short people.

14. The top of your head has been cut off in pictures.

15. You've always been the one who gives the piggy back ride.

16. Trying to cross your legs while sitting at a desk is the worst.

No matter how awkward life as a tall girl can get, we embrace being "vertically blessed" and wouldn't change it for anything.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
