If you're an Odyssey writer, there are definitely things you think about while sitting at your computer and trying to come up with a new article. There are some weeks that go very smoothly and others that you really struggle to find a relatable topic. Writing every week is more challenging than most people would give us credit for, and the purpose of this article is to vent and give other writers something to laugh at.

Things Odyssey writers say:

1. I can't think of a topic!!!

I don't have to tell you that finding a topic each week can be a hassle. It's hard to find a topic that you care enough about writing while at the same time finding one that other people will share.

2. Why won't anyone share this?

We all have those weeks when when we write articles that we think are great, but our social media bases don't really think so. We spend the whole week monitoring and checking our shares to see if they'll somehow boost, but at the end of the week, we are disappointed.

3. I hope people relate to this.

We find ourselves sitting in front of the computer and second guessing ourselves when it comes to our topics for the week. We worry that our articles might be ignored. It's not even that our articles are bad, it's that they weren't the flavor of the week. What's more than that is that they could have been more popular if they were posted a week early or later, but there's no incentive.

4. I hope this isn't redundant.

it's the beginning of the week, and you're watching the news, something terrible just happened. Like most people with a heart you feel a need to express how you feel about it. Unfortunately for you many other people felt the same need to express their opinion on the terrible news, and now your article is just a drop in an ocean of the current news.

5. Why didn't I think of that???

When looking at top articles from the Odyssey or even other websites, you're always in awe because it seems like other writers come up with the best ideas. When you see an article like this, you find yourself wondering why you didn't think of it first.

For those of you reading this article who aren't Odyssey writers, keep these things in mind when an article appears on your Facebook wall. Give it a like, or even a share, because a lot of work goes into the work that we do!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
