A positive outlook on life seems almost impossible when you're trying to figure out who you want to be, what you want to do, and where you want to go. So let me break down some of the things that have stuck with me throughout the years that I wish someone would have told me sooner.

1. Your vibe attracts your tribe.

vibe

Whatever kind of energy you put out into the Universe is going to come right back to you, sometimes in the form of people. Do you want to take fun vacations, date somebody awesome, and have a kick-butt job with a step-aside-loser kind of attitude? Then hang out and surround yourself with people who have those things already. Life is a party and you get to decide who you want to invite to it.

2. Love yourself. All ways. Always.

love

Say it out loud. Look in the mirror and find things you don't like and try to come up with something nice to say instead. Shape your barriers into building blocks. Embrace your flaws and the unique characteristics you possess and use them to your own advantage. Respect your body, nourish it, pay attention to it and love on it, even on the bad days.

3. Be grateful for where you're at.

Stop what you're doing and appreciate where you are now, be proud of how far you've come and how much you have yet to go. We are witnessing a miracle happening right this second, we are living, laughing, and simultaneously flying through space on a path that Earth somehow knows where it's going and that's a miracle in itself! I can feel my heartbeat! I can make others smile! I get to choose who I want to be today! I can make a difference!

4. Be selfish with your time.

It blows my mind how much time we waste away; whether it's comparing ourselves to others, complaining about our job, gossiping about people we don't even know, or obsessing what could have been, we are in our own way of growth. Time is valuable especially at this point in our lives, we must be careful of who we spend it on.

5. Enjoy the struggle.

The journey to success is never easy but it is mistakenly taken for granted, leading up to a realization of "it's lonely at the top". So, remember the days you wanted to give up, the days you thought this is my big break, and the many good days to come. We have so much right in front of us; people, responsibilities, opportunities, to-do lists, and sometimes we choose to freak out over the future instead of enjoying the process of right now.

6. Let it go.

Get rid of any negativity you have in your life and keep it moving. Holding on to unnecessary people and situations will do nothing but hurt you. For the sake of your journey and your destination, you must let go and move accordingly to the pace your journey demands.

7. Stay in your lane.

You are not responsible for what other people think about you. What others have to say about you, says more about them than it does about you. Just because everyone is going in one direction does not mean you should second guess where you're headed. Every path is different and once you realize that and accept it, life seems a little less heavy. Trust that when things take a sharp turn, there is a reason for it.

9. Be authentic.

Being unapologetically yourself is one of the most liberating feelings in the world, so go be a weirdo if that's what you do best. You being your authentic self at all times will always benefit you, so next time you feel like you have to fit a certain mold, don't. Allow not only yourself but others the freedom to be who they want to be.

10. Think big picture.

If you're working day in and day out for your dreams to come true, don't lose sight of the big picture. That big exam you're stressing over isn't going to matter in five years, but the lives you change doing the job that you love will, and does matter right now. Remeber the end goal, don't let the noise of everything else get to you.

11. You've got this.

The Universe is happy girl clapping and jumping up and down that you are here. You are so loved. Unconditionally. Profoundly. Whether you know it or not. Whether you believe it or not. So, get out there and do something awesome.

I hope at least one of these pieces of advice will stick with you or maybe change the way you've been thinking. If not, I hope you at least laughed at one of these Gifs. Anyways, keep being you and spread positivity around today and every day.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
