Most of the time, I take for granted my mom's words of advice and her helpful tips. And, there are other nights where I terribly miss hearing these things. So, because I'm sitting here missing my mom, here's a list of 41 things my mom routinely tells me.

1) Are you managing your money?

2) How much did you spend?

3) Did you make coffee?

4) Can you make coffee?

5) Make coffee.

6) School is your full time job.

7) Your failing your job...

8) Did you wear your retainer last night?

9) Can you mow?

10) I have mail for you! Wanna explain why the F.D.O.T sent me a photograph of my car?

11) What's your address?

12) I made your doctor's appointment for you.

13) Here, eat some spinach.

14) Feed your turtle.

15) That's not enough food, he will be hungry tonight....oh! Just give me that and let me do it!

16) Are you coming home this weekend?

17) How far away are you?

18) Why aren't you answering your phone? I assume you must be studying or doing homework.

19) Let me know when you get there.

20) Whose going?

21) Do it immediately! If not sooner!

22) Stand up straight.

23) Is he a Christian young man?

24) Are you going to church? Please read your Bible.

25) Are you in for the night?

26) Be careful, and please drive slow.

27) Are you studying?

28) A new Blue Bloods is on tonight!

29) Are you going to the store? Can you grab me a cherry coke?

30) Is there any chocolate in this house?

31) That's not long enough- go change.

32) Can you bend over in that?

33) I never said that! Don't put words in my mouth!

34) Hannah Morgan!

35) Feed your cat, she's whining.

36) Do you have enough headache medicine?

37) Your pinky promises lie.

38) Stop staring at that box! (my phone)

39) Remember where you come from.

40) I'll always be proud of you.

41) I love you.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated.
