Posts We All Hate from Once Acquaintances

Growing up you learn to see many friends come and go. In the past it was easy to just let those people drift from your mind, but in today's day and age, we have Facebook. Which means you get to stay in contact with that one guy you knew in Social Studies class in 8th grade where you partnered on a project. I am not the only one right? Anyway, they are all still on Facebook, and while you shared interests in SpongeBob in grade school, his or her political and social stances today make you think, what happened? I have gathered all of the posts you are likely to see from those people you once knew (and some you may still know) because, lets be honest, you did "just read that!"

1. The Copy and Share Posts

Don't get me wrong, I am all about charity, but really!?! Zuckerberg is giving money away to people who copy a post there is no way of tracking who shared it? This is about as ridiculous as those chain messages you use to get via text back in the day. I never copy these message when I get them, then again, that might be why I am single and Zuckerberg hasn't given me any money.

2. False Political Posts

One of my personal favorites. I see these a lot on my Facebook feed. The sad part is, most of them can be proven wrong by a simple Google search. The one you see above is false. The man above is Oscar Flores, and a quick Google search will tell you that not only is he a retired service member, he is very well decorated. Sadly this post was shared by many who support the troops, but apparently didn't want to take the time to find out that this war hero is real. Whoops!

3. Confederate Flag Posts

Okay, all political standpoints set aside, we get it, you like the "Rebel" Flag. I just don't know why you proceed to inform me about it everyday. My family lived in the former U.S.S.R., but I don't proceed to post about the flag everyday in the name of "heritage." Sometimes we have to except the Civil War is over, and the Cold War is to.

4. Vague Angry/Sad Posts

We all know those posts. For us, the angsty teenage years left long ago. For your friend that never got over the High School partying scene, they have only just begun. I am not saying everyone from high school is this way, just the ones who stayed there.

5. ANY GAME REQUEST EVER

I think the meme speaks for itself, but we all know that feeling. It's 2016, if you are still playing Farmville, get off Facebook. I don't know if any of you play Facebook games, but I want to know, does anybody ever respond to those? Like, I'm pretty sure if you murdered somebody, the best place to hide the evidence is in a game request.

In the end, we all have a few things that irritate us about old friends. We may never be able to get rid of them, or their horrible posts, but we can sit back and at least try to laugh a little. Are they annoying? Yes. Are they offensive? Yes. Are they funny? Well, sometimes laughing is all we have, and if all else fails, I know a classmate from middle school that can get us a great deal on Oakley Sunglasses for $19.99. You just have to click on this link.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
