17 Items You ALWAYS Have On Your Body If You're The Mom Of Your College Friend Group

In This Article:

There is always a "Mom" of a friend group and if you don't know who it is, it's probably you.

I never thought I was the "Mom" friend until I moved to London. Maybe it's being in a new city or wanting to be prepared for anything, or maybe it's my true self coming out.

A bag that can fit everything

Giphy

I've recently discovered the holy grail of bags, aka Longchamp bags. The large size is big enough to fit anything you need, but not too big where it's consuming you. Also, it NEVER feels heavy, seriously. That's coming from a girl who will throw anything and everything in her bag.

An extra layer

Giphy

Be it a sweater, jacket, or a darn coat, you'll probably have one. ,

Chapstick

Giphy

Nobody wants to be walking around with dry lips.

Lipstick

Giphy

You might as well give your lips some color now that you've moisturized them with chapstick.

Lotion

Giphy

Imagine going along your day and noticing your hands are dry but you don't have lotion.

Eye drops

Giphy

Contacts can be unpredictable, how could you not carry eyedrops (you probably carry the one that can be used with and without contacts because you're that prepared)

Gum

Giphy

Gotta stay minty fresh.

Antiseptic Cream

Giphy

Two words: life.saving.

But seriously, imagine you get a cut, scrape, a blister, burn, a sore cuticle, it will seriously just solve all of your problems.

Hydroflask

Giphy

Not only do you stay hydrated, but you make sure everyone else stays hydrated with refreshing ice cold water.

Hair accessories (yes plural)

Giphy

A scrunchie? Bobby pin? Lobster clip? Headband? Scarf pony? Beanie? You name it, I got it. Unpredictable weather has nothing on me.

Travel size perfume

Giphy

For when you go from day to night or wanna freshen up throughout your never ending day.

Tissues

Giphy

Suddenly started crying? Need to blow your nose? You're ready for anything.

 An extra pair of shoes

Giphy

Yes, I am serious about this. If you're out all day but don't have time to go back home to change your shoes, you will understand. But seriously, my favorite thing about this bag is that it can literally hold an extra pair of shoes!!!

 Hand Sanitizer

Giphy

Do you know how gross London is?

 A snack

Giphy

Before you know it, it's the middle of the afternoon and you haven't had something to eat since 7am. Go on and pack yourself a granola bar.

Deodorant

Giphy

After all that walking you're going to want to freshen up.

 An umbrella

Giphy

I'm not talking about a huge umbrella but a little one that can be tied up. This way, you're always ready for unpredictable rain.

There you have it, folks, pretty much everything you could need for any day of the week. Nothing will separate my Mary Poppins bag from me.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
