I've seen some pretty big changes in regard to Longwood's development over the years I've been here. From little 18-year-old me beginning her college journey to the now almost 22-year-old senior looking forward to the next steps.
There are several things I think Longwood should bring back.
1. (Most important) Outta Here
Outta Here was essentially a one-stop, grab-and-go place below the main dining area. They had the best paninis and it was where I grabbed lunch (and sometimes dinner) every day during my freshman year. Towards the end of my sophomore year they shut it down and my heart was broken - as was my bank account since I was now turning to other lunch options.
2. The "STU"
Don't get me wrong, I love Upchurch and everything that has come with it. But, the STU was my favorite homework and in-between-classes spot. The rather crappy couches hit different when studying had to happen or when you just needed a place to eat lunch and watch Netflix. With the STU came Einstein's and seeing my breakfast bagel go was another tear-jerker moment.
3. Java City
We're fortunate enough to have Starbucks now and there is still workspace in The Comma (what they replaced Java City with), but it isn't the same. Plus, the location was perfect for the afternoon pick me up on the other side of campus.
4. The sandwich station in the dining hall.
There isn't a whole lot of Dhall food that agrees with me, but I could always count on the sandwich station. Now I have essentially no reason to step foot in the dining hall. However, I do appreciate that they do to-go containers now and the new additions and ideas they are implementing.
I know these all are food-related, but let's be honest, that's what really matters to a college student.
