Sometimes makeup can be easy, but it wouldn't have been easy without trials and error. Those tutorials are much harder than they look!

Here are 10 things that I wish I knew about makeup when first beginning.

1. Match your neck please

For some reason it took me a while to understand that your neck needs to match your face, I didn't really know that I should blend my foundation towards my neck so that I don't look two different shades.

2. No need for the name brands.

I use to think that I needed to be like the Youtubers and get top name brand makeup products which I didn't need. Sooner then later I learned that it is okay if I get my makeup from the drug store because most of the time it's better then the name brand products and I started to save money.

3. Confidence isn't always in makeup.

Something I had to really learn when first starting makeup is I don't always have to wear makeup every day. Sometimes our skin needs a break from makeup. I started to feel like I needed makeup to make me look nice, I soon had to learn that makeup isn't what made me pretty.

4. Do your own research!

I learned that I need to do my own research! I would go off of what other people would tell me which was not effective. People would tell me certain products were great that didn't even work for my skin.

5. You're not a Youtuber sis, slow down.

Next thing that took me a while to understand is that I am not a YouTuber. When I first began to do my own makeup I use to think that I had to be like all the YouTubers and do my makeup perfect, but when it didn't turn out perfect I would get so down on myself.

6. Make it what you want!

Makeup is what you make it! I quickly learned that just because my makeup doesn't look like the next doesn't mean it doesn't look nice.

7. Practice!

I used to think that I would automatically get makeups skills out of nowhere I actually forgot that makeup takes practice. I wish when beginning makeup I gave myself time to actually learn technique.

8. Learn, then buy.

I wish I knew before beginning in makeup that I should've started out with the basics while learning, and then upgraded. i didn't realize that I didn't need fancy brushes while just starting makeup because if I barely knew how to use the basic brushes right, I for sure couldn't use the fancy ones.

9. Know your color!

Something that was a struggle is finding concealers that went right with my skin. Everyone would say "buy a concealer shade lighter than your skin" but no one really explained to me what was too light for my skin.

10. Know your own pace!

Something I struggled with was going at my own pace and trying to speed through the process when in reality makeup isn't something that can just be sped up.

There are my 10 things and hopefully something you can avoid if you are just starting out in makeup.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
