"Legally Blonde" isn’t typically a movie that you would think has a deeper meaning. Many people just see it as your typical rom-com movie. However, if you just take a moment to really think about the plot and the character of Elle Woods, you see that there are so many valuable lessons to be learned from her and her metamorphosis from a dependent girlfriend to an accomplished law student. Here is what I have learned from her.

1. You have to fight for what you want.

Determination is the key to achieving your goals. Elle worked her tail off to get into Harvard, inspiring all of us to give everything your 100 percent effort.

2. Learn when to let go.

Whether it is going after a guy or trying to make someone else happy, sometimes you just have to cut your loses. Elle showed us all that you can only chase someone for so long before you realize it is not worth the effort.

3. Learn how to stand up for yourself.

She taught us to never apologize for who you are. Elle had a backbone and never let people step all over her.

4. Don't be afraid to step out of the box.

She was always ready to step out of her comfort zone and take on a challenge. Elle taught us to not always try to take the easy way out.

5. Celebrate your accomplishments.

You are allowed to be proud of yourself. If you work hard to achieve a goal like Elle, you deserve to be excited about it.

6. Never settle for someone who isn't there for you.

Elle let go of Warner because he was not committed to her. You should only take time to care about people who care about you.

7. Believe in yourself.

You should be your No. 1 fan. Having confidence in all you do helps to lead you to success, just like Elle.

All in all, Elle Woods is a great role model even if she is just a fictional character in a comedy movie. She is confident in herself and is successful in achieving her goals. We can all strive to be like her.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
