All high school teachers tend to say things about college and college professors. Things like your college professor won't accept this, your college professor won't let you into class when they don't actually know. All college professors are different along with all high school teachers but, here's some of the things I've learned about college professors that your high school teachers tell you aren't true, or don't tell you at all.

1. Your college professors have bad days also.

There are some days they don't want to be in class as much as you do. Sometimes they have had a bad day, sometimes the last place they want to be is in class. So just take it easy on them, they're humans also.

2. Using swear words

Your college professors will cuss in front of you, in front of the class. It's just something they do.

3. Coming in late to class

They do it just like you do sometimes, they will walk in 5-10 minutes late sometimes. They also let you walk in late, so not much you can say or do about it.

4. Actually help you

Office hours, go to them, you can get the help you need. You can go to them for just about anything especially during office hours, whether just to chat or get help in class. Take advantage of this.

5. Understanding you are a college student

They tend to get why you go out and understand that you do indeed sometimes go out. They aren't dumb and they understand what you do on the weekends and even sometimes the weekdays and they won't shame you for it.

6. Let you out of class early just because

On someday's professors don't have enough material for a full class or they can see how restless you are and don't want to continue teaching, so they let you leave.

7. Let you come into class late

Most of the time if you come to class late, you just slip in quietly, find your seat and sit down without a word said to you.

College is not really anything someone can explain to you, considering everyone including every professor and university is different. But, your professors are mostly there to help you succeed as well as most things around the university, and you should use all these things in order to fulfill your college career.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
