How
The sun painted our faces;
Brown freckles on our nose
and red smudges on our cheeks.
The moon awakened the stars each night
To serenade our eyes across the Milky Way
In the night's peak.
The warm breeze balanced
the hot with the cold,
The light in the sky seemed
to never get dull.
The gulls raced to sea
And back to the sand
To greet us, humans, as we laid and tanned.
Now
The leaves will begin to Fall
Down
Slowly
To
Our
Feet,
The clouds will soon engulf the sun
Form a haze of ice and sleet.
Pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, Pumpkin Spice, pumpkin lives
fade to peppermint holiday treats.
Now
Bikinis are no more,
But jackets will soon live on
Everyone, everywhere.
Tans will be gone
But the humid Summer air will become
Cool and crisp
Enough to sit out by a fire
With those whom we care.
Now
Snow will dance down from the sky
Flake
By
Flake,
Creating dunes of white
Upon our morning wake;
Making children's days brighter,
Commuters' days lighter
As they sit by a fire
With a cup of cocoa and a
Heart full of desires
For a moment no better than
The one they reside in
Or
The next Summer they strive for.
