The summer after my senior year of high school was probably my most memorable summer yet. It was the perfect mix of freedom of safety. I could drive anywhere I wanted but I hadn't left for college yet. I had a job that paid good money but I still had parents who paid the bills. Best of all, I had no schoolwork to do but I still had a secure spot in school come August. While I am still fortunate enough to have parents who love and care for me, and while being home from school is a bit of stress relief after finals week, I still believe that my senior year summer was the best I'll ever have.

1. Graduation parties

I don't think there was ever a weekend that summer when I didn't have a party to go to. Everyone I was friends with and even people I barely knew had huge celebrations, so there was never a dull moment and always a cute picture to post on social media.

2. Not having any schoolwork

Giphy

I thought that every summer post high school would be free from any work or responsibilities, but I soon realized that I had my expectations set too high. While there isn't "assigned" summer work, extra courses and internships take up around the same amount of time if not more.

3. Having all of my things unpacked

Giphy

The worst part about coming home so far has been trying to figure out how to unpack the immense amount of stuff I brought home from college. And, the second worst part is the realization that everything has to be packed up again in 3 months!

4. The excitement for college

Giphy

Meeting my roommates, going to orientation, and buying decorations for my dorm were only some of the exciting things about college that I enjoyed the summer before leaving. I would think about college almost everyday, and now the thought of not seeing my friends just makes me sad.

5. Being with all of my high school friends

Giphy

Even though I've stayed close with many of them, it's tough to stay in touch with all of your high school friends when you go away to college. The last summer we all spent together was one filled with many memories, and it was one I'll never forget.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.
