Congratulations! You made it through finals and finished all your projects! You’ve successfully moved out, told all your college friends goodbye, and maybe shed a few tears. Now you’re home and you have all this free time, so what are you going to do?

Here are some great ideas for how to make your summer a great one!

1. Sleep.

By this point, you’ve completely destroyed your sleep schedule. Staying up until 4 a.m. studying isn’t good for your body. So get some sleep!

2. Read for pleasure.

You’ve been reading textbooks, analyzing lab reports, researching topics, and critiquing novels for months. If you aren’t sick of reading, open a new book, or the one that’s been sitting on your shelf.

3. Crank the music and dance around your bedroom.

It’s pretty awkward to dance to your guilty pleasure band around your dorm room when your roommate could walk in at any moment. So, turn your volume up as high as your ears can handle and sing and dance around your bedroom!

4. Stream that show you’ve been holding off binge-watching all semester.

There’s only so much time for Netflix when you should be studying. So, now is your chance to watch that show you’ve been waiting to finish since Christmas break.

5. Text your roommate.

You’ve lived in the same space for nine months, it’s gonna be weird not seeing them every day. So text them, arrange to meet up, vacation together, Skype, or just call each other every once in awhile.

6. Hang out with your family.

You’ve been away from home for so long, your family missed you. Take a break from Netflix and spend some time with them. You’ll regret it in August if you don’t.

7. Eat a home-cooked meal.

Ramen and cafeteria food are good for a while, but you've gotten sick of that. A quality home-cooked meal is so much better!

8. Make something.

It can be a painting, a craft, or a scrapbook of pictures from your year. You could make brownies for your family. It doesn’t matter what you make, as long as you make something!

9. Cuddle your pets.

You’ve probably missed them as much as you’ve missed your family. Let your pets attack you for how much they’ve missed you!

10. Hang out with your high school friends.

If you didn’t go to the same college as your high school friends, arrange to meet up and share stories about all the great things you did during the year.

11. Take a road trip.

Grab some friends, turn up the road trip playlist, and see where the road takes you!

12. Go outside.

As much fun as it is to sit in and stream tv shows, a little fresh air might do you some good. Also, you can get started on that tan.

13. Work out.

You can start work on the beach body that you’ve held off on all semester. You can also just work out for fun, because beach bodies are dumb and unrealistic.

14. Relax.

You’ll be starting a summer job, summer sports, or your other summer commitments soon. Take your time and relax before then!

Enjoy your time off, make the most of your summer, because fall will be here before you know it, and you’ll be wondering where your summer went.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
