Graduation is a time that fills our souls with so many different emotions: happiness, sadness, joy, remorse, excitement, anxiety, and most of all ACCOMPLISHMENT! Here are some of the things you have to do at Marshall University before you come an alumnus.

1. Study On The Third Floor Of The Atrium

This is one of my favorite views of campus, and if you haven't yet, you need to make the trip to the Drinko Library to hangout in this gorgeous space.

2. Take A Selfie With The John Marshall Statue

Whether its the statue by the Drinko Library or the bust in front of Old Main, you have to remember these wonderful pieces of art!

3. Take A Photo Of Old Main During The Winter

As the seasons change one thing stays the same, the beauty of Old Main as you stroll by. Winter is my favorite season to see in full effect around the stunning architecture, you should check it out before you graduate...

4. Attend A Memorial Service At The Memorial Fountain

Marshalls' website does a great job conveying what this event is all about:

The Student Government Association holds a memorial service each year on the anniversary of the Nov. 14, 1970, plane crash that took the lives of 75 people, including the Marshall University football team, coaches, staff, community members and crew. The ceremony is held in front of the Memorial Fountain on the Memorial Student Center plaza. As is traditional, the water in the fountain is stopped during the service, to remain silent until spring.

5. Take A Photo With Marco The Bison

Good 'ole Marco is always happy to take a photo, so be sure to grab one with you and your best pals before it's time to get your diploma!

6. Listen To The John Marshall Fife and Drum Corps

They're actually really entertaining and it's also cool to hear music from the John Marshall Era.

7. Participate In Endless "WE ARE... Marshall!" Chants

Marshall Universities website says it best:

“We Are…Marshall” has been around since football games in the 1980s at the university’s old Fairfield Stadium, where the stadium scoreboard would light up with alternating arrows to indicate which side of the crowd should lead the cheer. Since then, “We Are…Marshall” has become the rallying cry for a resilient school and community

8. Visit The Morrow Library Stacks

You have to do this before you graduate!!! Not only is it beautiful and mesmerizing but the amount of literature that continues for levels upon levels is breathtaking.

Consider this your Marshall University bucket list! Now go take advantage of the time you have left and enjoy every second of it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
