20 Things That Are Actually Harder To Do Than Going Out And Voting

In This Article:

November 6th is one of the most important days of the year: election day. No matter who you're voting for, what you're voting on, and why you choose this way or that, your vote in this upcoming election is critical. Yet young people continue to be the least present at the booth.

Although everyone says they're going to vote, there's plenty of reasons that people come up with to get out of voting: it's too hard, the line is too long, I have work, I have class, or I don't have a ride. Well, it only takes about 15 mins to actually stand on line and vote and if that's too long still, you're just lazy. In most states and schools, election day is an excusable absence. Plus, even Uber is offering discounted rides to polling places. So, what's the excuse? It's too hard?

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.
