Girls, we are one of the most beautiful, yet confusing beings on this earth. For thousands of years, men have been trying to understand how we work, on the inside and out. In this article, I lay out a few thing that guys today will never understand about us girls.

1. Why we wear makeup.

No, it's not for you, it's for us. I know that my champagne eyeshadow, dark purple lipstick, fake eyelashes, and killer winged eyeliner doesn't look natural, it was never intended to. I put on a full face of makeup because I like that way I look, not because I'm trying to impress a guy.

2. Our outfits don't imply anything.

whether a girl is wearing leggings and a sweatshirt, or shorts and a crop top; her outfit doesn't mean she wants to have sex with you. If a guy can walk around without a shirt on and his pants sagging down to their knees, then girls are allowed to wear crop tops and shorts.

3. Not all girls are the same.

Not every girl looks the same, wears the same things, or likes the same thing. Every girl is unique, so to be told she is just like every other girl is just an insult.

4. Girls are never perfect.

Unlike what magazines, movies, TV shows, and video games says; girls aren't perfect. Most girls don't have a 36"-24"-36" body, hair that goes down to their hips, or flawless skin. We are all beautiful in our own way, and if guys can't see that, then it's their loss.

5. Not every girl wants a family.

Girls don't always want to get married and have kids. Sometimes, girls want to focus on their career, and that's okay. Some girls are independent, and they don't need no man!

6. Periods.

Oh periods, a natural part of life that most guys are afraid of. Every woman has it, and it can be a real pain in the butt, especially when we have to deal with explaining it to guys all the time. The best thing to do it accept that periods will always be around.

7. Why we take so long to get ready.

Most girls do take time to get ready, it could possibly be that we are expected to have a completely hairless body, perfect hair, a flawless face of makeup and a perfectly coordinated outfit. Or it could be that we dance around to music and watch Netflix when we're supposed to be getting ready.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

1. When you've finally found the energy to leave your dorm room and walk into the lib like

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
