Bouncing and shining curls-the type of hair that many girls dream of. Ever since I was young, I've had others remind me of how lucky I am to have curly hair. What is not realized, is that this messy ball of frizz isn't all that it's cracked up to be. As much as I'd love to love my fro, I could do without many of these hair hindrances.

Brushes are the enemy.

Most of the time, we can't get a brush through our hair. If we do, it turns our beautiful, shining curls into a frizzy puffball. And we can also completely forget out our lovers "running their fingers through our hair."

It is ALWAYS dry.

Flat irons only make our hair even more fried than it already it already looks, and moisturizing shampoos and gels just make our hair greasy at the root. There's no real solution.

Personal Trap

Anything that floats, flies or even comes near our head gets stuck in our hair. Whether it's bugs, pieces of paper, food or fuzz.

Never Enough Shampoo.

No matter how hard we try to equally ration our amounts of conditioner, there will always be more conditioner left in the bottle than shampoo.

Too much money put into products for nothing.

We have tried every anti-frizz gel, leave in conditioner, and curl definer out there, but nothing really works like we want it to. We're left with shelves of half used products that we know we'll never touch again.

The crunchy crisis.

Along with the overuse of buying products, we've all been in a situation where we tried a product for the first time and find that we have used way too much, but's too late and there's no turning back. Our hair becomes, stiff, crunchy and permanently wet.

Eating our own hair is the norm.

Our hair is so messy and big that it ends up getting in our mouth every time we eat or walk in the wind. Driving with the windows down is definitely not as luxurious as it sounds.

We think hair cuts are stupid.

Getting a haircut means that we have to straighten our hair beforehand so the hair stressor can evenly cut it. However, when we let our natural hair flow again after the haircut, it's way shorter than it was supposed to be now that it has sprung back into the spirals.

It will never be straight no matter how hard we try.

We can spend all morning trying to straighten the nest on our head, but it will always become kinky by the end of the day, especially if it's humid or rainy outside.

People don't believe it's natural.

We've been asked on several occasions why we wake up every morning and curl our hair. What they don't realize is that our crazy, curly hair is pure laziness, and if we did take the time to style our hair, it would actually look semi-decent.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
