It's safe to say that most of us have seen "Forrest Gump," starring Tom Hanks. If you're reading this and you haven't seen this glorious movie, go enlighten yourself to the magic that is "Forrest Gump," because everyone should see it at least once in their lives. It will take you on an emotional rollercoaster filled with laughter, happiness, tears and grief. So, without further ado, here are some times that Forrest Gump has taught us a life lesson:

1. Forrest has taught us to appreciate what we have.

No matter what bad things happened in Forrest's life, he was still happy with what he had because he knew that some people have it much worse. He pushed through whatever he was going through in his own way.

2. He taught us how to be adventurous.

What some people in this world lack is a sense of adventure, and those people are probably the ones who haven't watched "Forrest Gump" (you know who you are). Really though, if there's one word to describe Forrest, it would be "adventurous." If I accomplish half of the things that this fictional character did in life, I will be a happy camper.

3. Forrest taught us how to be kind, loving people.

You get nowhere in life if you are not very kind, which is why I think Forrest's life was so full: he was never mean or nasty to anyone. As I mentioned, he is a fictional character, however there are people out there just like Forrest Gump, with enormous hearts, who are enjoying life to the fullest. We should all carry as much love around with us as Forrest does.

4. He's taught us to always be positive.

Positivity and kindness tend to go hand in hand. The more positive we are, the kinder we tend to be. Forrest seemed to have this down. Nothing brought him down, no matter how negative people in his life were.

5. He taught us to speak our minds.

As Forrest once said, he was not a smart man, but he knew what love was. I think we all know what love is and have our own definitions of love. If we were all as open as Forrest Gump, all of our views on love and on hate would be seen and understood. Yes, it is important to know when to speak and when to keep our mouths shut, but overall I think being more open to people in our lives would do us all some good.

All in all, Forrest has taught us so much more than just five little things, but you get the gist. We can all learn something from "Forrest Gump," whether it be loving more, having more positivity in life or just plain being happier.

"My mama always said, 'Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." ~ Forrest Gump

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
