I love my family. They’re an interesting bunch... And frankly, I think my mother is obsessed with me. But I don’t see them as often as they’d like when I’m at school, so I guess it’s convenient that social media exist. I mean, seven of my nine closest relatives follow my Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat! You’d think this might ~limit~ what I share with the rest of the world. But sometimes, fun things happen. Here are the typical occurrences:

1. Your mom screenshots every Snapchat story that features your face.

Maybe it's because your face looks like her face & she loves looking in the mirror...?

2. Your grandpa comments “That’s my cute granddaughter *emojis*” on your Facebook post from two weeks ago.

Because you're his self-proclaimed favorite granddaughter & now you have proof of it!

3. Your aunt consistently asks, “So, who’s that boy in your Instagram photo?”

You mean the blurry figure in the distant background that you need to zoom in 5x to see? Yes, I'm admiring from afar ;)

4. Your great uncle comments on a random photo your friends tag you in.

ie. that staff bonding event that you only went to for the free food...

5. Your mom screenshots your Instagram pic then posts it on her Facebook page the next day.

Mom = the original re-poster.

6. Your cousin is the only one who actually comments on your Twitter posts.

Because you never write anything actually funny, but at least your bloodline shares your sense of humor...

7. Your grandma gets Facebook to gain points on her slot machine app, friends you out of obligation, then becomes your least active follower.

Plus, she's got a nice prof pic taken with Portrait Mode, so there's that...

8. Your dad contemplates getting Facebook just so he can see what parts of your life everyone else in the fam is seeing.

It's ok, though, because mom will fill him in on your likes/dislikes and daily comments anyway.

9. Your mom saves photos of the boy who broke your heart and is hesitant to delete said photos two months later when you find them on her computer.

Even the prehistoric, middle school, unflattering haircut photos...it's cute maybe...?...

10. Your aunt asks you to choose the best filter for her newest Insta, and then you’re the first person to like her photo.

Too bad all your personal followers won't see you lookin' so good in that Clarendon.

11. Your cousins ask if the friend sitting across the table from you in your Story Snap at Taco Bell is the guy you met at a club and have kinda been dating for the past two weeks.

No, but have you tried the Nacho Fries?? <3

12. Your mom and best friend become Facebook friends and send each other lives in Candy Crush.

Now this–this is true friendship, amiright?

13. You seriously reconsider posting that pic of you looking like a complete derp but then realize that, if nothing else, at least your fam will *heart* it.

All I have to say is "ily :)."

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
