THINGS EVERY GIRL NEEDS TO KNOW WHILE GROWING UP,

YOU ARE NOT BROKEN. You are just a little bruised and scratched up, not broken. Life will always get you down and leave you scared, but you need to know that those scares will make you stronger.

SOME DAYS WILL ALWAYS BE HARDER THAN OTHER, but you need to remember that there will be better days.

TRY NOT TO PUNISH YOURSELF! Everyone makes mistakes. Trust me everyone does. You can be 17 or 56, regardless of the age everyone makes them. I still say things when I shouldn’t but I’m still learning—and so are you.

YOU’RE ENOUGH FOR YOURSELF. There will be a person who you gave your entire heart and soul to and they'll still walk away, but you’re enough. Just because someone doesn’t want you don't mean something is wrong with you. Another persons’ action is never about you—they do not define you either.

LIFE IS CRUEL, but it only makes you stronger. Believe me; it will shape you into a beautiful human being—but only if you do not give up yourself.

YOU ARE STRONG. There will be mornings where you'll fight the same demons and battles from the day before. That is strength, my dear.

YOU’RE GOING TO BE SAD, and you’re going to get through it. Everything will be okay, and it may not seem like it, but it will be one day.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY ENJOY THE LIFE YOU LIVE CAUSE IT GOES BY QUICKLY. Do everything out of love and passion.

I want you to know that you are beautiful, and do not let anyone tell you differently. You do not need any man, girl, friend, or parent to define you.

If you are reading this, I hope something great happens to you.

— "be a friend to yourself, not an enemy."

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
