Things Every Small Dog Owner Can Relate To.

They May Be Small But They Pack A Punch.

Things Every Small Dog Owner Can Relate To.

Dogs are a gift to the human race. I think everyone can agree with that, but small dogs are a special kind of treat. If you've had to opportunity to own one, I'm sure you agree. You may be a small dog owner if...

1. You shop in the children's section

If you own a small dog, chances are you've been in the baby section to find a coat or even a shirt for your dog. There is a much larger selection than there is at the pet store...the clothes are cheaper and fit better too.

2. Winter is a nightmare

Winter (especially in upstate NY) is a nightmare. For your little pint sized friend...its ten times worse. So when they decide to pee in the house rather than spend 20 mins outside in -10 degree weather...don't get too mad at them.

3. Over protectiveness

When you own a small breed of dog, they will be loyal to you, till the end of the earth. They don't care whether the person they're growling and nipping at is ten times larger than them...they love you and will do what ever they can do to protect you from your uncle who just wanted to give you a hug.

4. They're afraid of every object

The broom is a nightmare...and the vacuum is worse. They have no problem charging at large dogs and people, but when it comes to object that are larger than them? They ruyn with their tail between their legs...literally.

5. Snuggles

Snuggle time will always be their favorite time of the day..even if they're only sapping your for your warmth. You will always have a cuddle buddy.

6. Its easier to hide them

If you don't want to leave your little friend at home while you go shopping (especially in the car) you can just put them in your purse. I can't tell you how many times I've snuck my pup into Walmart....and class.

7. Being extra careful

You have to be extra careful to not step on them or harm them. They're so small and easily breakable.

8. Barking

They bark at literally EVERYTHING but you still love them anyway...even if its super high pitched and for no reason.

9. Puppy pads everywhere

Whether your dog is only a few months to 5 years old...chances are you still have puppy pads in your house. If its too wet, cold or hot outside they refuse to do their business.

10. Annoyance at strangers picking your dog up

Yes, I know my dog is the size of your foot but please stop picking them up. They're clearly growling at you and don't know you....leave them be. If they were a doberman, I don't think you would be doing the same. Show some respect.

11. Your dog owns you

They clearly run the household, but you love them anyway. They're cute and very loyal...even if you change your life around for them.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
