Resting B*tch Face (RBF): When a person naturally looks mean, without intending to.
I realized I had RBF at a young age, when my best friend told me she was scared to talk to me our entire seventh grade year because my face made me look mean. I'm not mean, that's just my face.
There are certain struggles in life that only people that struggle with RBF understand, and to all of those struggles I'll just keep replying with "This is just my face," because it really just is my face.
When People Constantly Ask If You're Okay
If I wasn't okay, you would know. I have the same facial expression 99% of the time, I just don't know when people will get that.
When People Don't Understand If You're Being Sarcastic, Joking, or Totally Serious
In my case, I'm almost always being sarcastic, but RBF in addition to sarcasm just confuses the hell out of people. On the other hand, when I'm actually trying to say something serious, no one can figure out if I'm being serious or not. RBF also means you can't joke around and say mean things to people, because even if you're 100% just kidding, your face says otherwise.
When People Think You Have No Emotions
I am a person; I have emotions. I don't just have a black hole where my heart is supposed to be, my face just doesn't express emotion unless it's totally necessary.
When People Always Assume You're Judging Them
I probably am. But that's just me personally, not the whole RBF community as a whole.
When People Assume You're Going to be Mean Before Meeting You
If I say anything mean to you, I'm most likely being sarcastic/just kidding. I'm not a scary person, I just don't smile 24/7.
When You are the Source of All Your Family and Friends' RBF Jokes
Friends: "Noelle, show us your resting b*tch face."
Me: *Makes no change in what I'm doing*
Friends: "There it is!"
You can talk to me, I swear. I'm not going to bite your head off, I'm not mean, I promise I'm kidding when I say somewhat mean things, this is just my face. I have had it since birth and will not change for anyone.
