Things That Every College Student Knows To Be True When Home For Break

Amongst the many things to look forward to as a college student, there is always one thing that we look forward to whether we want to admit it or not—going home. It's a love-hate relationship, but every break we still find ourselves traveling back to our childhood home.

The biggest struggle of going home is packing a bag

I always dread packing a bag to go home, especially if it is only for a week or two. I am an infamous over-packer, I will pack a huge bag with all of my "essentials," but really I will just end up wearing two things the whole week I am back. Plus, I always feel like I am going on vacation, but really I am just going back home.

Someone has taken over your room

Well...if you are lucky enough to live in a house where each person has their own room, then this probably isn't applicable to you. Now, if you live in a house where you once had your own room and two other siblings had to share a room, then guaranteed that one of those siblings decided to take over the room you were once in.

Not having to set any alarms for a break is one of the best feelings ever

As someone who loves to sleep in, I truly appreciate not having to turn on any alarms when I am back at home for breaks. Waking up and not having a care in the world for what time it is or what you have to do today is something I could get used to.

The excitement to see your pet is real

Let's be real...the one thing that you have been looking forward to all week is going home and finally being able to reunite with your favorite member of your family. If you don't have a pet, you might not understand, but it's a tough world for us pet owners when we haven't had the chance to see our pets in months.

There is nothing better than the comfort of your own home

There is something so soothing about going back to the place where you grew up, the place where all your childhood friends used to hangout at after school. Our place back on campus doesn't even come close to how special our home feels like. There is nothing better than spending time in a house where so many special memories were made.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.

Tamatoa created a liar filled with shiny things simply for the purpose of tricking fish to enter and become his food. He too experiences a lesson in how easy it is to be tricked by shiny things when Moana distracts him by covering herself in glowing algae so Maui can grab his hook.
