College is a whole different world compared to high school. This is where you are tested the most and your first semester will either make or break you. After extensive research (asking my sorority sisters) and personal experience, this list was compiled. Consider this a warning: all 100 items on this list are helpful, consider this your go-to list of need-to-knows.

1. Your high school friendships will be tested. Some will stay the same, many will be broken.

2. Same with your high school boyfriend.

3. A smoothie is not a meal, neither is fro-yo.

4. If you are tight on money and dying for a new outfit, buy it.

5. Do not let boys dictate your life.

6. You are beautiful even if you do not have a six pack.

7. Appreciate the little things.

8. Do laundry once a week, if not more.

9. Go to the gym.

10. Put down your phone.

11. Beauty and brains are a double threat, so study.

12. It is OK to stay in on a Friday night and watch a movie.

13. Stop letting people that hurt you in the past back into your life.

14. Tell your parents you love them every day, even if it is just over text.

15. Stop worrying. Everything will work itself out.

16. Do something different with your hair, you are in college now.

17. Laugh!

18. If someone messes with you, fight their fire back with gasoline.

19. It is OK to cry.

20. It is OK to call your mom.

21. It is OK to drive home just to hug your mom, no matter the distance.

22. If you want pizza at 3 a.m., order that pizza.

23. College is finding your bridesmaids, not your groom.

24. Learn to love yourself before you give your love to anyone else.

25. Join as many clubs as you can handle.

26. Do not overwhelm yourself.

27. Go to church every Sunday, no matter what time you got home the night before.

28. Diets do not work.

29. Dress up as much as you can, appearances are important.

30. Smiling is contagious, so do it.

31. Be thankful, you are truly blessed.

32. As much as your friend says she is going to give your clothes back, she won’t.

33. Being “mom” when you go out with your friends is the best option sometimes.

34. "Desserts" is "stressed" spelled backward for a reason.

35. Never underestimate the power of a nap.

36. Get your nails done, you will feel like a new woman.

37. You are going to meet a lot of temporary people, and they are temporary for a reason.

38. Internships are important, so get as many as you can.

39. Do what makes you happy.

40. If you have a bad feeling, listen to it.

41. People will surprise you — let them.

42. Games are for athletes and game nights — don’t bring them into relationships.

43. Be open to love.

44. Try your hardest in school, you are there to learn.

45. Ask for student discounts everywhere you go.

46. Do not let bad experiences make you bitter.

47. Meditate.

48. Do not be too proud to apologize.

49. Holding grudges is a waste of energy and time.

50. Living on coffee isn't the best idea.

51. Everyone deserves a second chance, but not for the same mistake.

52. Having class is about how you act.

53. Know when to bite your tongue.

54. So much can change in a semester, accept it.

55. First impressions are important, but should not be the sole basis of your judgements.

56. Do not be scared of your professors.

57. Be true to your heart and believe in yourself.

58. It is OK to text first.

59. If you join a sorority, the experience you have depends on the effort you put in.

60. Go to every “free” event your school has.

61. Reach out to people you normally do not talk to.

62. Take lots of pictures, you will be thankful in the future.

63. Four years goes by really fast so take it all in.

64. It is close to impossible having a fully charged phone, but try as hard as possible.

65. Always carry a phone charger with you.

66. Do not fall for cheesy pickup lines from guys.

67. Do not earn a bad reputation for yourself.

68. When you meet a cute guy, play it cool.

69. Expect the unexpected.

70. Your dining dollars are your friend.

71. It is OK to change your major.

72. You do not have to date every boy that looks your way.

73. Take advantage of the free tutoring.

74. Do not walk alone.

75. Your best memories will be with your girlfriends.

76. You will probably lose something of importance.

77. Keep a planner.

78. Set a budget and follow it to the best of your ability.

79. When you make a good grade, treat yourself.

80. Collect your loose change.

81. Be considerate of your roommate(s).

82. Spell/grammar check emails to professors before you send them.

83. Go to class (it may come back around to help your grade if you are a familiar face to the teacher).

84. Wash your sheets.

85. Wash your dishes.

86. Just clean up after yourself…

87. Don’t be afraid to take a break from specific people sometimes.

88. Have a good pair of walking shoes.

89. Walking to class can help keep you in shape… so leave the car keys in your backpack.

90. Do not be afraid to wear a hat to class.

91. Your student ID is your lifeline.

92. Never forget your headphones.

93. Do not skip your 8 a.m., you will regret it.

94. It is OK to make the first move, sometimes.

95. Do not over-think the situation.

96. Dorm life is what you make of it.

97. You do not have to party to fit in.

98. Save money when you can.

99. Taking breaks is healthy.

100. Be prepared for work and get your head straight.
