Yes, I've only been in college for one semester, but being a communication sciences and disorders major, there are far and plenty of things I've heard repeatedly, so here are some of them.
1. "What is that exactly?"
When someone asks what your major is and you tell them you're studying communication sciences and disorders, 99% of the time they ask you what that is.
2. "So, you're studying communications, right?"
No, do not group me with the communications majors, I study communication sciences and disorders. There is a difference.
3. "Wow that's a lot of work."
In one of my classes, my professor went around and asked us all what our majors were. When I said I was studying CSD, she responded by saying it was a lot of work. Gee thanks, that really boosts my confidence.
4. "Grad school is so hard to get into."
I had met with my advisor once to go over a course schedule, and she mentioned how tough it was to get into graduate school. Mind you, I am still a freshman, so I think I have a little ways to go before I have to worry about that, but thanks for the 4 year heads up anyway.
