Whether you are going on vacation or taking a quick trip to visit family, sitting in a car for hours can be torture. If you are anything like me, you grow restless of staring out the window. Take the alternative view, this can be the perfect opportunity to get work done. It is just an extended period of free time, so here are ten things to keep you busy:

1. Read a book

I say this with caution. Reading in a moving vehicle can often lead to car sickness.

2. Jam out

What could be more entertaining than throwing your own concert? Your throat my be little sore after, but the hundreds of thousands of fans will still be screaming your name.

3. Contemplate mortality

Why do humans exist? Why am I here? Do extraterrestrials actually exist?

4. Doodle

You don't have to be good at it, just put pen to paper and see what happens. If doodling isn't your thing, then try out a coloring book.

5. Create unrealistic scenarios

Car rides provoke inspiring thought. There is no better time to sit as trees pass you by to daydream that perfect day when your crush finally asks you out or your wildest dreams come true.

6. Play cringey car games

Avoid these at all costs. They are absolutely horrendous. If push comes to shove, play I Spy or Would You Rather.

Text a friend to help pass the time. It can be a current friend or maybe even an old one. Long, distraction-free car rides are the perfect time to catch up.
