In lieu of National Adoption Month, I'd like to share a few statements that I have to answer more than you may realize. This is for all the Adoptees out there.
1. You're adopted?
Sorry I didn’t mention that a few thousand times already??
2. You're related?
When asking about siblings, parents, cousins etc. The last name didn’t give it away, did it?
3. So, your siblings aren’t really your siblings then?
Yes, they’re my real siblings.
4. And your parents aren't your real parents?
100% my parents. Hate to break it to you bro.
5. Do you remember anything about your "real family?"
They are my real family… I have nothing else to say.
6. Your other family didn’t want you?
I’m not explaining this if you ask me.
7. Adoption is like, really expensive.
I know and my parents know I’m worth every penny. Thank you very much.
8. Do you even know anyone else who's adopted?
Yes. I do.
9. Where are you really from?
The U.S. if you want me to be technical. But you’ll have to guess.
10. Do you speak your native language?
I speak English thanks very much. And no I cannot.
11. That doesn't make any sense.
Neither do your questions about who I am.
