Been home for about a week and I already miss a few things about school.

There are so many great things about being home and away from school that I have started to realize in my first summer back home from school. I guess I didn't always appreciate everything that was available to me at home. I've been thinking about the things I took for granted but also the things I will miss about school. College was really special but I will for sure enjoy the three months of not paying for everything myself and edible food. There are a few things about college life that I can't get at home. I've only been home for about a week, but I've been thinking about the things I will miss about being at school and the things I won't.

1. I miss having a few of my best friends and favorite people in the world close to me all the time. Spending so much time with these people makes it crazy to have to be away from them for so long.

2. I don't miss eating the same meal every day because the dining hall doesn't have other food.

3. I miss the late nights sitting on the lounge floor, eating pizza, trying to do homework with my best friends.

4. I don't miss depriving myself of sleep because I didn't start my homework early enough.

5. I miss laughing about the most stupid things at 4 a.m.

6. I don't miss having to stay up all night.

7. I miss being able to make all of my own decisions.

8. I don't miss having to remember every single thing I have to do because no one is around to tell me what to do and feeling pretty clueless about everything.

9. I miss my bed and the funny little conversations I would have with my roommate before we fell asleep.

10. I don't miss paying for laundry twice a week.

11. I miss having a roommate that will yell at me to clean up my stuff and take care of me when I need to be.

12. I don't miss going to class and taking tests.

13. I miss having a house full of some of the best girls I have ever met that can make me feel better instantly.

My first year at college was so fun and I met so many amazing people. So wonderful to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
