1. Everyone knows everyone else.
I knew everyone that I graduated with and my parents knew their parents, and so on and so forth. News travels fast, especially in a small town. Something could happen at noon and the whole town would know by one! There are no secrets in my town and I don't know if that's a good thing or not.
2. You grew up with the people in your graduating class.
Almost every single person that I graduated with had been to school with me since Kindergarten. It made it a lot easier to have closer friendships with everyone. We were all able to help each other out in different ways.
3. A lot of people are related.
A lot of my family also lives in Ludlow. Since it is such a small town, a lot of different families that live there are related to other families. I remembered being in school and learning that some of my classmates were either cousins or siblings.
4. Everyone comes together when a family has a tragedy.
I have seen the people in my town support families in a lot of different tragedies. Even if someone didn't really associate with a certain family, they were still there if they needed help. When I was in school, we came together for a lot of different families. Whether it be death or other life-changing moments, everyone in my town will be there for you.
5. Some of your classmates can become your life-long friends.
I made some amazing friends in high school and I wouldn't trade them for the world. If I wouldn't have gone to such a small high school, I might not have met those people. I felt a lot closer to all of my classmates since they weren't that many of us.
6. It's a place where you can feel like you belong.
There's no place like home. Since I have left Ludlow to go to college, I have learned to appreciate it a lot more. Even though I love being in Lexington, it will never compare to being in Ludlow. Ludlow is my home and will forever be a place where I belong.
