2016 was an eventful year for sure. Between electing a new president, personal accomplishments and downfalls, as Kylie Jenner said, 2016 really was the year of "realizing things."

Here are 10 things I learned in 2016:

1. Family is everything

Whether it's screaming at your sister for wearing your clothes, or still fighting over who gets the front seat when you're all adults, there is nothing greater than your family.

2. Give more than you receive

Always make it a goal to give your love, your talent, and your advice to others rather than just receiving it.

3. What you want isn't always what you need

Sometimes we are so focused on having things our way, we can't even see that what we want in life does not always align with what we need.

4. Patience pays off

Everything is a process, and things can take time to come alive. Be patient waiting for those moments; it'll mean a lot more seeing the finished product when you understand all the work that was put into it.

5. Alone time can be the best time

In a world full of chaos and stress, there is no better time than time spent alone.

6. "Grow from the dirt that they left you in"

Even when people mistreat you, we should always grow from the pain and become strong people, emotionally and mentally.

7. Take risks

Life is boring when you play by the rules. This year has taught me that some of the most amazing times you'll have in life are when you think outside the box.

8. Always choose happiness

If you always have a positive outlook on things and keep a smile on your face, it will help when going through the hurdles life throws at you.

9. Stay true to you

Never change yourself to fit into someones else's idea of perfection. Always be who you are - it's more than enough!

10. Time flies

We all should take the time to appreciate what we have before it's gone because if 2016 has taught me anything, it is that the days are long, but the years are short.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.
