15 Memorable Quotes of the 2016 Election

Let me preface the article by saying this:

I'll be covering a variety of political nominees, candidates, satirists, and news outlets. In no way should any of this be interpreted as attacking toward any particular political ideals. This election has been a game changer, and will only continue to become higher maintenance as we get closer to Election Day.

1. "There is too much shouting. There is too much making fun of each other." - Former Dem. Nominee, Sen. Bernie Sanders

This remark was made very early on in Sanders' campaign. Boy 'o boy, Bernie. Wait until you see what October 2016 looks like...

2. "I hate to crash the party..." - Gov. John Kasich (OH), Former GOP Nominee

Many people don't remember how large the Republican candidacy pool was only a few short months ago, and this quote from the Ohio Governor at the first Republican debate only demonstrates how easy it is to forget just how many people there were.

3. "Trump continues to rely on less-educated adults for his support."- ABC News/Washington Post Poll

In an infamous speech following his Nevada win in late February, Trump stated he "loves the poorly educated," and ABC News can attest to just that.

4. "I'll give you a ribbon for participation. And a juice box."- Former Gov. Bobby Jindal (LA) to Former Rep. Nominee, Chris Christie

While it is bittersweet seeing as that Jindal didn't secure the GOP nomination either, his stab at Christie was nothing short of enjoyable.

5. "The government has no business knowing how much money we make and how we make it."- Mike Huckabee, Former Rep. Nominee

Does anyone remember Mike Huckabee? Former Republican nominee? Yeah, neither do I.

6. "You may have seen I launched a Snapchat account. I love it... Those messages disappear all by themselves."- Sec. of State/Democratic Nominee, Hillary Clinton

Following the email server scandal of Hillary's early campaign run, she expressed her love for the new social media outlet that lets her wipe those messages away instantly. While a lot of people laughed, many opposers didn't enjoy her attitude toward her allegations.

7. "...But I think the secretary is right. And that is that the American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails."- Former Dem. Nominee, Sen. Bernie Sanders

During the first Democratic debate, Bernie said what millions were thinking. (Sadly, it still didn't get the media to put the entire thing to rest.)

8. "Swastikas are a symbol of hate for many people, and yet they still exist in museums."- Former Rep. Nominee, Dr. Ben Carson

Remember Ben Carson? His response to opposition of the confederate flag left many people scratching their heads.

9. "This tweeting thing, that's the worst thing you could give Donald Trump."- Bill O'Reilly

While Trump's tweets have been a sight for controversy in the past year, they never shy short of entertaining in value.

10. "I like people who weren't captured."- Rep. Candidate, Donald Trump

It's impossible to go through this entire list without quoting the man himself . Very early into his campaign, Donald Trump explained how John McCain was indeed a war hero, but he was a less than preferred political candidate since Trump "like's people who weren't captured."

11 "You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever. In my opinion, she was off-base." - Rep. Cadidate, Donald Trump

This comment about Republican debate moderator, Megyn Kelly was the first of many.

12 "I'd have to say the enemy soldier who threw the grenade that wounded me, but he's not around right now to talk to."- Former Dem. Nominee, Former Sen. Jim Webb (VA)

...Is he dead? Did you kill him? Is he in the bathroom? This comment from Webb at the first Democratic debate left everyone speechless and scratching their heads. It also left me to wonder; "Did this right-wing independent just put on a blue tie and walk out here to this debate?"

13. "I trust [Bernie Sanders] with my tax dollars like I trust a North Korean chef with my labrador."- Former Rep. Nominee, Mike Huckabee

Oh, boy. Deep breath... Huckabee also stated that "racism isn't a skin problem, it's a sin problem." What is that even supposed to mean? This isn't Huckabee's first outrageous comment, and probably won't be the last, but this tweet during the Democratic debate made many, including myself, use that big red "Block" button on their Twitter accounts.

14. "Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next President?! I mean, she's a woman. And I'm not supposed to say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?"- Rep. Candidate, Donald Trump

For months Trump was the go-to face of sexism and complete and utter disgust after these remarks about Former Rep. Nominee, Carly Fiorina. Since then many have forgotten about this landmark statement.

And finally;

15. "... And what is Aleppo?"- Libertarian Pres. Nominee, Former Gov. Gary Johnson (NM)

This on-camera interview had everyone watching face-palming as Johnson failed to identify the largest city in Syria and one of the largest ISIS (ISIL) capitals in the world. But, running for president is a hard job and there's a lot of information that gets thrown at you very quickly. And for that, we forgive him.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
