There's always going to be times when life gets you down. Whether it be school, friends, or relationships, life can throw anything at you at full force. Maybe the mid-semester slump is getting to you, or it seems like nothing is going the way you want it to. Life can knock you down in so many unimaginable ways, and sometimes even keep you down. The most important thing to remember is to not stay down, no matter how hard it can be.

Staying positive is one of the most beneficial things anyone can do when it comes to battling the punches life throws at you. Positivity breads positivity, right?

Although I am no expert on this topic, and life has definitely gotten me down once or twice here are six things I've learned to help me stay positive.

Allow yourself to take breaks

Breaks?? What are breaks?? Oh trust me, I know this is i foreign concept, especially to college students. I mean at this point we don't even have time to get sick, Always going, going and going and never really stopping. As hard as it may seem, always set aside a time during the week to basically do nothing. We all need a break, and a well deserved break at that so always remember to take time to yourself. In the long run it’ll help not only your overall performance in school and other activities. But it'll also help you to stay positive.

Keep life organized

I cannot even begin to tell you how much keeping my life organized and in line has helped me. Writing down everything I need to get done, when things are due, and always just staying on top of my work. Whether that be in school or out of school, I always make sure I know when and what I need to get done. Not only does this make organizing your classes at school better, but it can in a way de-clutter your life, making you less stress and in the end - more positive.

Getting enough sleep

Sleep is a heavenly thing. PLEASE, do yourself a favor and get a good amount of sleep every night.

Talking thing out

If anything has been bothering you or you're just stuck in a hole where you don't feel like yourself grab a girlfriend and talk it out! Don't keep things bottled up talk out your issues with a friend you know will listen. Venting, helps a lot more than you think.

Surround yourself around happy people

Smiling, and laughing are both very contagious. So make sure you make it a point to surround yourself around people who love to joke around and are very light hearted. Its okay to not take life too seriously sometimes, so surround yourself with people who know how to have a good time.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS

Appreciate what you have. Keep in mine that someone out there has it much worse than you do and would probably dream of having to deal with the issues you are having to deal with.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
