In today's society, there are many different types of fashion to choose from. Within these different fashion categories, people buy specific types of clothing to "fit into" the look they're going for. I wear ripped jeans a lot. And when I say "a lot," I mean that pretty much every pair of jeans I own has holes. What many people do not realize is that when purchasing these ripped pieces of clothing, they actually cost more than buying a pair of jeans or a shirt without holes in them! Below, I have listed all of the wonderful compliments people have given me while wearing ripped jeans...
1. "You know you have holes in your pants, right?"
Gentle words from my dentist.
2. "Did you get those for half price?"
The first question my mom asked me after buying new jeans.
3. "Whoa, did your pants go through the lawnmower?"
Stated by my five-year-old cousin.
4. "I hope you got those on the sale rack."
Kind words from my brother.
5. "If I were to grade you off your tattered clothing, you'd get an A!"
Said by my professor.
6. "Do you think you look 'stylish' in those?"
Asked by my younger sister.
7. "I think you forgot the rest of your pants."
Articulated by a passing stranger.
8. "Maybe we can put patches on your pants so your skin won't show."
Mom has said this on multiple occasions.
9. "I don't think I'm supposed to see half your legs when you wear jeans."
Also stated by my brother.
10. "What happened to the rest of your pants?"
Asked by a cashier in the supermarket.
11. "Do you feel a draft when you wear those?"
Asked by my brother..
12. "You do know they sell clothing without holes in it, right?"
If you guessed that this was asked by my brother, you are correct.
Although there is sarcasm and a little bit of seriousness in these questions and statements, I will still wear my "tattered" clothing. I know that I can wear whatever I am comfortable in, even if it means receiving snarky comments. So if you can relate to this, know that you're not the only one who has to deal with these meaningless remarks. Always be yourself, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
