Fall is almost here which means chunky sweaters, pumpkin spice everything, and colder weather. The best part about fall is the color of the leaves changing, which is extremely evident on Marquette’s campus.
All along Wisconsin Ave. you can see dozens of trees lined up in the middle of the street with beautifully colored, changing leaves. This makes the walk to early morning classes much more bearable. You can feel the crisp air in the morning which helps wakes you up on those mornings when you would much rather be sleeping. Fall at Marquette also means having more excuses to go to the Brew Cafes, ordering your favorite fall drink, and cozying up in a corner to study. Fall also means Halloween, which is very celebrated here on campus. You can see tons of students walking around at night all dressed up and having the time of their lives. There are also students who volunteer to have neighboring children come trick or treat in the dorms, which always seems to put a smile on the faces of the kids, as well as the students.
On nice days students can be found by the lake admiring the changing of the seasons, exploring the Historic Third Ward, or attending a fall themed festival or event. The annual homecoming week occurs in the beginning of October, which is a series of events that brings together the entire Marquette community from students, to faculty, to alumni. These events include bed races, games, and a concert featuring popular artists. There is also a preview of the upcoming basketball season that is held during homecoming.
Fall means many things to Marquette and its students. It symbolizes the beginning of the school year, the changing season, and school spirit.
