It's that time of year- everyone is doing their holiday shopping, and so that means the retail employees are hard at work. And here are the feelings of retail during the holidays.
1. When you have conditioned the same aisle three times, and you see it is messed up again.
Will you ever get to leave? It isn't looking like it.
2. When a customer asks "Do you work here?"
Actually, I just wear this uniform and name tag for the fun of it.
3. When you're at group huddle.
We all have better things to do, so lets just shut up and get this over with.
4. When you are actually at home.
A rare occurrence, this time is usually reserved for showers, home cooked meals, and sleep. All of the sleep.
5. When someone calls an emergency code word.
Everything is already crazy- an emergency is not something you wanted to add to the list.
6. When you keep getting rude customers, but you still have to act polite.
Bad customers are the worst customers, and after a few of them it is hard to deal and you just want to cry.
7. Door buster sales.
When the big sales happen, things get bad. The worst comes out in customers, stocking, conditioning, and coworkers.
8. When the boss says you can leave.
It has felt like days crammed into the hours of your shift. And now? Now you get to leave.
9. Getting home after your shift.
You made it- you survived. Now get the hard earned sleep before you start over tomorrow.
