If there is anything that I have noticed within the last few years of my life, it is that before things fall into place, they must fall apart. So often in life do we get stuck in these hard times and convince ourselves that there will never be a way out. We are overwhelmed with doubt that things will work in our favor. But, fear not. There is ALWAYS a light at the end of your tunnel.
I think some of us get the feeling that we are stuck in a relationship, career, finances, or just simply life. The spark is gone, chemistry faded, and there is a plateau of trying. This is a big weight for someone to carry on their shoulders alone. Your world may feel like it is slowly caving in around you. Also, I have found it true that bad things happen in threes. The washing machine breaks, the long-term relationship ends, and the family member gets diagnosed with a terminal illness. As if one of those three wasn’t enough, right? We then question ourselves, “why me?” “What did I do to deserve this?”
Nothing.
You didn’t do anything to deserve what’s happening to you. Seriously, shit happens. And to some more than others, unfortunately. The darkness of these happenings tends to consume us. We wake up each day, yes, but we just go through the motions. Practically walking zombies.
And then, one day, you walk outside and notice the sun is shining a little brighter. You get in your car notice that you’re singing again. Things suddenly don’t seem so bad. Why?
Because life.
Life happened. You can’t stay in those dark days forever (even though it feels like it). Eventually you either forgive, forget, or just move on. How many times have you looked back at yourself and smiled because you made it through something you never thought you would? Something that seemed impossible at one time, now possible.
What’s that overly used saying that everyone has a tattoo of these days? Oh yea, “this too shall pass.” Well, they aren’t wrong. Like I said, sometimes things in life must fall apart before they can fall together. And when you feel like there’s no light at the end of your tunnel… keep going. It’s there.
