While at first glance you may believe that 'The Real' is just another ordinary daytime talk show, but your first glance would be totally wrong! The show began in the summer of 2013 and at the beginning of this year, it was renewed for 2 more seasons. This will keep the show going all the way into 2020. In addition to that milestone, another one of their latest successes is winning a Daytime Emmy at the 45th annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
So if after reading that you still don't understand what's so special about 'The Real', let me enlighten you! The four co-hosts, since starting the show, all have built a great bond and friendship that really comes across during each episode. They all come from different backgrounds and have their own experiences. Their differences and respect for one another are really what gives the show the ability to shine and relate to their audiences as they discuss a variety of relevant topics.
The co-host for the show includes Adrienne Houghton, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, and Tamera Mowry-Housley. All four women have found success through their own individual journeys. Adrienne Houghton is an actress, singer, and recently started her own YouTube channel. Loni Love is an actress, comedian, author, and has a degree in engineering. Jeannie Mai is a stylist and TV personality. Lastly, Tamera Mowry-Housley is an actress, blogger, and TV personality as well.
Having a diverse group of women who have all had a variety of careers and experiences in their life really gives the audience something special. They don't always agree but all four women are willing to share and discuss. The audience gets to hear thoughts on a series of topics from the perspective of being a black woman, being single, going through a divorce, being a mother, and so much more.
As a college student, I don't get to sit down and watch daytime television, but I keep up with 'The Real' on YouTube and other social media sites. I can always watch the videos from the shows and learn something new or relate to a topic they are discussing. They talk about relationships, growing up, the latest new trends, and serious issues that are going on the U.S. When I watch I find you myself laughing, crying, and really listening through it all.
Overall each one of these ladies has a beautiful personality and are allowed to shine as individuals on the show. What I find most beautiful about 'The Real' is how they come together to laugh, cry, connect, and be "real" with their audience and each other.
