There Will Always be More Good than Bad

"An American-born man who'd pledged allegiance to ISIS gunned down 49 people early Sunday at a gay nightclub in Orlando, the deadliest mass shooting in the United States and the nation's worst terror attack since 9/11, authorities said," CNN

The worst mass shooting in U.S. history occurred on our soil on June 12, 2016 in Orlando, Florida. This devastating event shocked the nation and brought severe concern to the eyes of millions. Our world is at war, our people are attacking one another, and it is time for peace to be greater than conflict.

What happened in Orlando was tragic, unexpected, and unnecessary. Violence is never the answer: never has been and never will be. The power of peace and the unity of togetherness will prevail over all forms of evil and hate. These negative and violent acts of hate and disgust targeted at certain groups of people, let alone at any people at all, are truly unfathomable and downright wrong.

In the Orlando shooting, there were 49 innocent people celebrating life at the moment they lost theirs. There was one man who felt it was his right to take away their life. He took lives that night, altered families at that moment, and although he lost his own, what occurred can never be undone. But as people of America, as citizens who live on grounds founded on faith and freedom, and as humans of the universe it is our duty to look towards peace instead of hate. Hate solves nothing. Violence causes pain. It is peace that has the potential to bring the world to a better, more unified place.

As a daughter, a sister, a friend, a student, and a citizen, I am turning to peace. I encourage you to look for peace from this brutal crime to overcome the damage that has been done. We need to unify our country and remain strong in the worst of times, and we must look for light where there is currently only darkness. I urge you to move forward from this day on with a positive mind, a healthy soul, and a forgiving heart. After all, all we truly have in this world is each other.

And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
