the light of the sun peeks through my mini-blinds
finds me where i lay
reminds me there is a world outside my window
and beckons me to come participate
so i rise and heed its call
after all, shut-in recluse surrounded by four white walls is not my style
not now
i am renewed
once outside, my eyes have to adjust to your radiance
my skin feels your warmth
my mind is inundated
the light of the sun is an experience
accentuated by a brilliant sky with no clouds in sight
green on grass and leaves in the trees
nature providing me the opportunity to observe its splendor
my senses absorb all that i have taken for granted
awed by this i smile
the light of the sun is on my back
pushing me in a new direction
that is uncertain and risky
it is sudden, unexpected and different
but i like it
thus begins the journey of mercury…
