There are many great colleges in the United States. Now all you have to do is decide which one you want to go to. There may be quite a few deciding factors that go into making your final decision.
The first question to ask is do you want to go far away or be close to home? A lot of people want to get out of the house so they don't have to be told what to do. Quite naturally, their answer may be that they want to live far away. To those that would like to be close to home, they have to determine how close is too close. In my personal opinion, two hours is the perfect distance from home. It's not too far and not too close. Either way, you're going to miss the little things about being at home that you didn't even realize like home cooked meals or in some cases, free laundry.
Tuition's way too high, you need to cut it. No but really. While browsing through schools, have you looked at tuition costs? This does include in-state and out of state. For some universities, out of state tuition is higher. The universities that I looked into also have breakdowns of the tuition in case you're wondering where your money's going. This was one of the most frequent questions that I was asked when I was applying to colleges.
Are you going to a certain university because your friends are going? If that's your decision then by all means. Just make sure that the school you choose also has the major as well as athletics or activities you're looking for. I decided to attend Brescia University for myself and my personal interests. A lot of people got accepted but I'm the only one from my high school graduating class to attend. This doesn't mean that they're aren't other people from my hometown.
Are you prepared to walk from Kentucky to Texas? That's a joke but that's also a seriously long walk. I was not mentally or physically prepared to walk all over a big campus especially if I only had ten minutes to do it. I preferred everything in close proximity, which is another reason that I chose Brescia University. The entire campus is probably on four blocks maximum. I can wake up ten minutes before class starts and still be there in five or less. (P.S. I don't recommend that. I was rushing that day.) On a normal day, I got up at least thirty minutes before class.
Do you want to be a name or student 1463? I wanted to be in a place where I felt comfortable. I didn't want to be another number or in a place where no one knew my name. I like being able to walk on campus and my teachers or administrators know who I am. Or the fact that I can ask them a question and they'll help me to their advantages.
