College is great, I can't lie. Everyone meets new friends, struggles through the same difficult classes, and makes new experiences together. That's college.
It's not like home because let's be real, no one has as many friends at home then they do back at school.
It's not like home because you can't walk to the bathroom without putting on flip flops. (Unless you're okay with foot fungus, in that case stop reading)
It's not like home because you don't have a kitchen to walk down and eat everything in, but only small snacks that you have to ration because you wasted your money on coffee.
It's not like home because you live with people who aren't in your immediate family.
It's not like home because you can never escape anyone and find true solitude.
It's not like home because mom isn't here to tell you to do something you won't do anyway.
It's not like home because you have to walk down five flights of stairs to overfill the washing machine with dirty clothes.
It's not like home because nothing can replicate home.
No matter which way you look at it, home is something that you can't just move to a different city in a different state without your family. Home is where your sisters steal your stuff and you get really mad but then remember you can steal it back because she lives an inch away. Home is the place where my mom comes in and kisses me goodnight or rubs my back.
Like I said, college is great, but sometimes all you want to do is click your red slippers together and be home in an instant. Instead, it's an agonizing four hour drive, alone in a truck that probably burns more gas in a millisecond than a Prius does in two months.
