There Comes a Time in Life When You Need to Choose Yourself

Be free for yourself.

There Comes a Time in Life When You Need to Choose Yourself
Myrtle Beach

Be true to yourself. Live a life free of fear, worry, and pain. And remember, sometimes it is okay to choose yourself. To stand free and independent all on your own.

Don't let people hold you back. Despite what it may seem, even those we love may not be good for us. We may stay with them because they brought us joy that no one else did. Memories made that can never be replaced. Precious Moments that will never be forgotten.

And yet, over time, things begin to change. Feelings fade. What was once bright and full of joy is now dim and full of sorrow. And yet we keep trudging on, afraid to stay, but more afraid to leave. We continue to walk down a dark road, slowly losing control.

And when we break, when the day finally comes, we must ask ourselves, do I choose me? Do I live free, and turn my back on those I gave so much to? Because deep down, if I don't, I will slowly be destroyed. But is destroying ourselves better than destroying someone else? To some, the answer may be clear. To others, it is the worst decision fathomable.

There is a reason some tattoo the words live free on their bodies. Everyday, they can be reminded to live without fear, without pain, because life is worth so much more. To not let the bad days take over, even when you want to crawl into a ball and hide from the world. To remind themselves that there is something more, we only have to reach out and take it. But if we forget those words, those precious words, then we lose sight of the most important thing: ourselves. If we forget about our oath to live free for ourselves, how can live for others?

Yes, we live for each other. But if we cannot live for ourselves, if we cannot be true to who we are, and for once, choose ourselves first, then we are not only disappointing ourselves but those we love. And sometimes the decisions we make are not easy. But sometimes, sometimes they are necessary to live free for ourselves. Sometimes they are necessary to in order to save ourselves from the lonely person we have become.

As difficult as it may seem, there are times in which we have to, no, need to, choose ourselves. Our fire must continue to shine bright, and we are the only ones capable of rising the flames higher and higher. Because the fact of the matter is, we are only in control of ourselves in this world, and it is our duty to assure that our own being continues on. The world can be dark and lonely, but if we choose ourselves, if we choose to take control, we can make it bright and beautiful. And sometimes, by choosing ourselves, we have to let go of those we love.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
