About a year ago, I started to watch this guy on Facebook live and I wouldn’t be writing this article a year later if I wasn’t still so impressed. Think of the likes of Josh Turner and Johnny Cash, mash those two together, and add some of that Rhode Island twang and you’ve got the Nick Casey Band.
Nick Casey is a Rhode Island based country music artist with a sound that is all his own. Nick sings his heart out on the mic and takes care of rhythm guitar too. He's backed by an amazing band with Ryan Tremblay slaying lead guitar, Olivia Baxter playing a mean fiddle, Ethan Lyons banging on the drums, and Jared Cournoyer slapping the bass. The band won the Mohegan Sun's Locals Live contest in December of 2018, just 5 months after getting together, and have continued to see success since. They've recently traveled all the way to Indiana for a run of shows at The Tally Ho Pub in Richmond and Duke's Indy.
Like I had mentioned above, I started to dive into Nick’s music through his weekly live shows on Facebook. He comes on to hang out Tuesdays at 9PM EST and is usually jamming out for a couple hours. Requests are always welcome while Nick plays some of his originals along with covers of country greats, but I can’t say artists like Bruce Springsteen or Pink Floyd aren’t regular covers. It’s safe to say everyone has a good time.
Some big days in the studio are helping to wrap up the band’s debut album. They’ve been putting in a lot of hard work on this album and it’s going to be killer once it’s released. Be on the lookout over on Facebook for an official release date and join The Coop while you’re at it to keep updated on what’s going on with the band. So far, it’s been one hell of a ride and the Nick Casey Band is well on their way to making a big name for themselves.
