A Step-By-Step Guide to Going Out

In the beginning, when the patriarchy created college, the Thursday Night was born. Some may argue that Thursday Night has always existed, but I beg to differ. College has perfected the Thursday Night at the bar, with each stage of the night being held to the highest esteem.

The Decision

This is the most important part of the night: your decision to actually go out. Sure, you may have that 9:00 am and probably haven't finished your homework for the next day yet, but the possibility of an awesome night and a severe case of FOMO has left you curious. Whether your friends are pressuring you to go out with them or you had a really rough week, the decision makes or breaks your night.

The Preparation

What you wear downtown has to reflect what you want from the night, but don't wear anything sleazy. Want a little dancing action? Wear that skirt while also not flashing the entire bar. Want a free drink from that creepy old guy who hangs around to stare at all of the girls? Go for it. Feeling that nice shirt you've been saving for a special occasion? You do you. Tonight is your night, friend. Carpe that diem.

The Social

You're hanging with all of your friends in one of y'all's rooms. You're probably feeling some type a way by now, with Drake playing in the background and the liquid courage running through your veins. You are in your zone, you are on top of the world, and nobody can bring you down. You are ready to go to the concrete jungle of downtown.

The Event

It's your time to shine, superstar. While some of your friends stayed behind because they couldn't make it, you can still have your moment. Do the Dougie, Cupid that shuffle, and if you want to Wobble, then Wobble. It's the one night of the week you're allowed in public to dance as badly as you want. Dance with people you just met, scream the few words you know of that song, and live up your Thursday. You deserve it!

The Ride Back

The best kind of people in your college years are the ones that are willing to be your driver. Thank these people profusely, especially when they buy you a Taco Bell Beefy 5 Layer. Your A+ friend drops you off and you take the ever-beautiful elevator back to your dorm. You crawl back to your bed because the liquid courage has unfortunately left your system. You dream of sugar plums and people raving all night long. You survived a Thursday Night.

The Friday

"Has the sun always been this bright?" will probably be one of your first questions. As you take the struggle bus to your morning class looking ratchet AF, you know that going out the night before was one of most fun things you did this week.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
