It's finally time for awards season! Some people live for this season. It's exciting to see who wins what awards and if your favorite actor won all the awards you predicted they would. Awards are exciting and definitely entertaining to watch. My favorite part (and many other people's favorite part) is the dresses. I love watching the E! Red Carpet Previews and looking at all the different dresses. It may seem like these dresses only appear once on the red carpet, but that is actually false. Within days, designers will make replica dresses that stole the show and sell them for much cheaper on the Internet. I'm serious, look it up.
Awards are where everyone tries to look their best, but some people show up and you wonder where in the world they got their standards for "best" or even "style" come from. Here are dresses that cover it all from this year's Golden Globes - the good, the bad, the ugly, and those in-between.
The Good
Why not start on a positive note?
Blake Lively... Where do I even begin? She always looks flawless, and she's married to Ryan Reynolds. It blows my mind that she is a mother and still looks picture-perfect everywhere she goes. I love the scoop neckline and v-shape on her dress. It is very unique and I think she took the "Little Black Dress" concept to a whole new level.
Emma Stone - how can anyone describe the uniqueness, likability and talent of Emma Stone, first of all? I think she is wearing stars because she is a star. Not only did she win a Golden Globe for "Best Actress In a Musical or Comedy," but her dress definitely won the night. She is a beautiful star, literally. This Valentino dress showed off her figure beautifully and had all the grace and poise that is Emma Stone.
In Between the Lines
Lilly James - do not get me wrong. I love her and I have since Downton Abbey. She is talented and has a great taste in style. Her dress is not ugly by any means. In my opinion, I feel like she is getting ready to go to her high school prom or a wedding rather than an awards show. I just wish I could have seen her in something that stood out more, which I am sure I will later in the awards season.
Michelle Williams - I just cannot get myself to like her choker. It looks like shoe laces. The Golden Globes are a fancy event, not something we all want to wear our Nike tennis shoes to.
Jenifer Lawrence - I feel bad for putting her in the "Just Okay" category because I love her so much, but I just thought this dress was okay. It is a very pretty and elegant dress, but we all have seen Jennifer Lawerence in much prettier dresses. Plus, I am just not sure where the "wow factor" is and it was just one of dress you kind of forgot about once you saw Emma Stone or Reese Witherspoon. J-Law looked amazing (as she always does), but I just though this time around her dress was just alright.
The Worst
Kate Hudson - what in the world? This is not a dress. It's a fancy maxi-skirt with a sparkly bandeaux. In my opinion I think she showed too much skin at this event. Award shows are supposed to be elegant and classy, not a time to show off how you can rock a crop top. Plus, the world knows celebrities are skinny, just don't remind the rest of us how we need to actually follow up with our New Year's Resolutions to work out...
Oh, Sara Jessica Parker. I wish I could figure out what look you were trying to go for when you decided to wear this interesting ensemble to the Golden Globes. I think it a cross between a wedding dress and a toga made out of a sheet. Or maybe Cleopatra? I have no idea, but whatever she was going for, I think she might have missed the mark.
Nicole Kidman - all I have to ask is why? The sleeves say 80's prom costume but the choker says 90's, and I am just confused. The bottom of the dress looked her cat sat and shed on it and Nicole didn't have to use the lint brush before she left. I have no idea why she would waste so much money on such a hideous dress, when she could have used it to buy a WAY better looking one. But then again, almost any dress would have been better than this.
