Welcome to the new year everyone!

After a nice couple of weeks of spending the holidays with friends and family, and a break away from writing articles and writing papers for school, it's time to return for a brand new year of articles and a brand new year of topics to talk about.

2016 was an interesting year, to say the least. A year filled with celebrity deaths and a controversial presidential race that is sure to be in many history textbooks and test in the future. Many found the year to be the worst year ever and are glad that it is finally over.

It's time to welcome 2017 with open arms! Here is to a fresh new start to a new year full of endless possibilities! Hopefully, everyone is starting to work on those New Years resolutions and can complete them before the year ends. Maybe it's me, but the years have been going by quicker the older I get.

So what can we expect in this new year? Well for starters, we're getting a new president (that many are not pleased with). And with every new year comes more music. Ed Sheeran already started off the year by releasing two hit singles off of his new album. And we always have a year full of new movies that will be marketed as number 1 around the world. Seriously, every blockbuster film that gets a wide release is marketed as number 1. And then there are those that will flop like a fish out of the water.

And we also have a new year full of new scandals and new controversies! Will 2017 be full of controversy as much as 2016? We'll just have to wait and see!

But as much as I am excited to see the new things that are bound to happen in 2017, there are still some things that we need to work on.

For starters, its time that we stop putting each other down for our differences. And this pertains to color, sexuality, religion, and even political beliefs. People are different and have different points of view. Sure those views may be ridiculous, but you can't change a person mind by constantly screaming at them, or writing on their Facebook. It's time to embrace different individuals. If you can't do that, then just move on. Eventually, they'll do the same.

This is also a year for finding ourselves. I, like many college seniors and even high school seniors and grad students, am graduating. I'm moving on from my time at Buffalo State and starting a new chapter. What concerns me is what happens after. Do I keep going? Grad school is nice, but that costs money. And finding a job in my field is hard but possible.

But I am keeping my hopes up to find a new start in life after graduation. Hopefully, I can get into grad school with no worries, or find a job within my field that will pay well.

So here's to 2017, the year of endless possibilties!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
