Jealously wreaks havoc and often it is inevitable to feel. It is often known as a mental cancer. There are times in everyone’s day where the disgusting feeling takes over and you feel yourself wishing for what others have. It’s a mix of anger, hopelessness, inadequacy, and disgust. There are always hidden meaning behind every form of jealousy.
First and foremost, jealousy can ruin friendships. It is normal for someone to feel jealous when a friend does better on an assignment or gets something new but it’s all in the way you handle the situation. If you begin getting jealous over things like boys, and unchangeable things there may be an issue. As long as your aware of the jealousy it’s easier to take positive steps to overcome it. Its important to find the things in your friends lives and use them to excel and work harder in your own. Use their success as your stepping stones for your own. Do not let jealousy overcome you.
Jealousy in your professional field can also be detrimental. When you are envious of other people it often leads to unkind gestures and rude comments. This can leave people thinking you had a bad attitude or even just a mean personality. Although this may not be the way you truly are to everyone, your actions can be noticed by anyone. All of these things can lead to your career being hurt. Once again, using your coworker’s success and steps to your own can be a great way to overcome this.
The worst could be jealousy in and after a relationship. Trust and jealousy are two very different things. You can trust your partner fully but still think jealous thoughts of the people he is with and the things he is doing. This is one of the hardest things to overcome and often ruins relations. Jealous actions are often thought of as a lack of trust, even though often that is not the case. You want to spend time with them and be involved in their lives and letting others into your relationship can be challenging but healthy. Any good relationship cannot be constant and overwhelming contact. The key to overcoming jealousy in relationships to voicing your thoughts without yelling and sounding over bearing. This is a key that takes times and practice. Being kept in the loop can help make jealously less prevalent.
Over all, this year in 2017 my goal is overcome jealousy every day.
